I have the same problem with eboard 1.1.3 on Debian Buster. The program
build is quite old (2016), hence it seems that the problem is with some
high-level library.

Bug description:
  GTK2 applications randomly crash or freeze with error like:

  [xcb] Unknown sequence number while processing queue
  [xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not 
been called
  [xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
  <application>: ../../src/xcb_io.c:263: poll_for_event: Assertion 
`!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed.

  where <application> is the name of the executable, e.g. audacious,
  soffice.bin, etc.
