This is fixed in official gnome-terminal 3.34.1, which is on its way to
appear as an eoan update. So let me mark this as duplicate.

Title:
  zoom sets wrong window size in fullscreen mode

Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Using eoan 19.10 and wayland and the following package versions

  * gnome-shell 3.34.1ubuntu1
  * gnome-terminal 3.34.0-1ubuntu2
  * mutter 3.34.1-1ubuntu1
  * libmutter-5-0 3.34.1-1ubuntu1

  How to reproduce:

  * I open up gnome-terminal and switch to fullscreen (F11).
  * Then I decrease font-size / zoom (CTRL+-).
  * The gnome-terminal window no longer fills the display. The window size is
reduced proportionally to the reduction in font size.

  The same applies for zooming in / increasing font size. The window is
  then larger than the display and the cursor is outside of the
  viewport.

  What I expect:

  * No matter the font size, the gnome-terminal window should cover the
  whole display (not more, not less) as long as gnome-terminal is in
  fullscreen mode.

  As far as I remember, this was working before in Ubuntu 19.04 disco.
