Thank you for your bug report, I'm not convinced it wouldn't look
overloaded if we were to do that. We are not going to change it in
Ubuntu but you are free to try to convince upstream

  Alternating colors on odd and even rows on the Music screen.

Status in rhythmbox package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  1) Ubuntu 19.10
  2) 3.4.3-2ubuntu1
  3) On the music screen, odd and even rows should have different colors. Allow 
a user to set a color for odd rows and a color for even rows.
  4) The horizontal rows are all the same color.
