.desktop? What permissions does it have? Could you add a screenshot
showing the issue?

  .desktop files were open by gedit

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  On 20.04,the .desktop file could not show correct icons and open by
  correct applications.

  It only show a 'setting' icon, and when you double click it, it will
  use gedit to open it.
