@Sebastien I don't have an easy way to boot 20.04 for the moment and I'm unlikely to upgrade to 20.04 any time soon. As for a snap, that might work, although it feels a bit like a zero-sum game: you can have a working touchpad or normal root filesystem access, but not both...I'll see what I can do, thanks for the suggestions!
