Hi Daniel, I did that a few days ago. The extension that triggers the problem is gsconnect. There is a related open bug on that extension at https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect/issues/1028
I waited to report it here because we were doing some investigations then I forgot. My bad. It could be a problem completely due to the extension or split between the extension and the shell. If I close almost everything it gets a little better, if I restart Gnome Shell with ALT-F2 r RETURN it gets better for a few minutes. Ghome Shell is always one of the top consumers of CPU and RAM, but this was always the case. I don't have particular problems with RAM, I'm usually not using more than 20 GB out of 32 with many long running programs (VMs, browsers, etc).
