Closing as fixed, the "Yaru" theme sounds in recent releases of Ubuntu
are definitely less obtrusive than in the much older releases of Ubuntu.

Bug description:
  The dialog error is somewhat obstrusive and loud when in deep
  concetration on a project.  Could this be changed to be more subtle
  less obstrusive sound like the sound incorporated in the freedesktop
  sound theme?
