This seems, per upstream, to be a GTK+ issue, so adjusting upstream task. Marking the Ubuntu task triaged/medium (which, at least for now, I am leaving on Empathy).

I think the problem is related to this particular URI because other URI work right, opening in the default browser (Firefox).
