** Description changed:

I have installed Ubuntu 21.10 on my Intel NUC8I7HVK.

I can't figure out how to configure my SPDIF to connect to my speaker
system. I have the correct mini-Toslink to standard cable and I can see
the laser light coming from the PC, so it is not likely a hardware
  problem.

The NUC audio is Realtek SLC700.

Can anyone help me properly configure my audio to recognize my SPDIF
digital output and support the 5.1 Dolby surround?

  -----
In pavucontrol i don't see any SPDIF output, headphones work fine.
