Something different happening this morning!  I ran the gdb for fcl to
obtain the back trace for you, but unexpectedly the program actually
started!  There are some messages in the output, but the GUI is up and
running.

Given this I just tried and both gimp and virtualbox are starting now as
well.

What should I do for you now?

I am going to catch up on some of the work I needed to do with these
programs first, but I am willing to check further into this for you
after that.

  As this library has not changed I am assuming the problem is with one of the 
libraries it depends upon.  Several packages were updated in the past few days, 
I believe including some that may be the cause of the problem.  I have attached 
a zip with my /var/log/apt/term.log and history.log for inspection.

  Version of library is 2.24.32-4ubuntu4 and library file is dated
  2021-03-31 here.
