Please reconsider.

I initially used sudo, but as stated above this is also happening with
gksudo.

Title:
  gedit:7954 - no such file/folder error

Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When I edit a file, e.g.:

  gksudo gedit /etc/fstab

Make some changes and when saving I see these errors:

(gedit:2223): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into
`/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to create
file '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.PWS47V': No such file or
  directory

(gedit:2223): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to set the permissions of
`/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: No such file or
  directory

Note that they don't relate to the file I am editing.

I had moved "/home" to a separate partition and then install a Xubuntu
11.10 to a new "/" partition and used the new home partition, ever
  since I see these errors.

To create "/home" I used the instructions from here:
  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Partitioning/Home/Moving
