Mostly solved after updating kernel to version 3.0.0-15 Now, the only small issue is that the OSD has many more notches than the screen has actual brightness levels. This is noticeable only when lowering brightness, though. When raising it, it is mostly sync'ed correctly.

It lowers only one notch when lowering it. It only happens on a Dell Latitude D630 ATG. To reproduce: - reboot and login; - press "fn"+ arrow up to raise brightness and notice that the osd bar stays only at full position, flashing, while the actual brightness raises; - press "fn" + arrow down to lower brightness, and notice that the osd bar only shortens one notch, while the screen brightness lowers to minimum.
