Please note, that the default is to have the buttons-have-icons setting set to false, you have to override it manually (install dconf- tools, open dconf-editor, navigate to org->gnome=>desktop->interface, and check the buttons-have-icons checkbox) to see this problem. After you have set it, open the new conversation dialog and see the missing icon on the button.
