Moving it back in hides the rectangle again. A screen recording of this behaviour is attached to this bug report. Also, if I begin the selection in the 'Same width as dock' region and drag towards a display to the left of the display where the selection began, the selection rectangle is only visible on the display to the left while remaining invisible on the original display.
