.xsession-errors contains the following additional lines after a failed
connect. Reckon the first three lines come from typing in the private
key. Root cause (to me) seems the unfamous "Message did not recieve a
reply..."-line.

  nm-connection-editor fails when adding wireless with WPA/WPA2
  Enterprise and TLS security

Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  After setting the userid, the certificate, the private key and its
  passphrase (but leaving the CA Certificate open), a message pops up
  saying: "Connection add failed / Message did not receive a reply
  (timeout by message bus)"

  Also tried it on a mint new oneric, booted from USB, with same result.
