For example: 1. Print a page to file (example.pdf, example.ps) from Firefox in Ubuntu 10.04 2. Gzip & Bzip both files (example.pdf.gz, example.pdf.bz2, example.ps.gz, example.ps.bz2) using the Nautilus context-menu "Compress..." item. 3. Observe that all six resulting files are associated with Evince, and can be opened without trouble. Inkscape, GIMP and some other applications also support this on writing. Similar functionality is desirable for gedit. $ lsb_release -rd && apt-cache policy gedit Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release: 10.04 gedit: Installed: 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gedit/+bug/565735/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
