This Problem still exists in 24.04.

The version of libgutenprint packaged is still
5.3.4.20220624T01008808d602-1build4 and therefore over two years old.

Following the solution published on
https://www.peachyphotos.com/blog/stories/building-modern-gutenprint/
worked for me and made my printer usable again.

Title:
  Can't print on Canon CP800

Status in gutenprint package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After updating to Ubuntu 22.10 from 22.04 I can no longer print with
Canon Selphy CP800 using the gutenprint drivers.

This is a regression in one of the packages:

  printer-driver-gutenprint_5.3.4.20220624T01008808d602-1_amd64.deb
  libgutenprint9_5.3.4.20220624T01008808d602-1_amd64.deb
  libgutenprint-common_5.3.4.20220624T01008808d602-1_all.deb

The issue is resolved by removing these packages and manually
  installing the packages from Jammy:

  libgutenprint-common/jammy,jammy,now 5.3.3-9 all
  libgutenprint9/jammy,now 5.3.3-9 amd64
  printer-driver-gutenprint/jammy,now 5.3.3-9

The error logs from cups are:

  E [16/Dec/2022:20:18:02 +0200] [Job 184] Incorrect paper loaded (01 vs 11),
aborting job!
  W [16/Dec/2022:20:18:03 +0200] [Job 184] Backend returned status 3 (hold job)
