It will open a window where you can choose which playlist or music to sync. Detach the mp3 player and create a new playlist. Open Rhythmbox, attach your mp3 player and then choose to "Sync with Library". It will NOT open the window to choose what to sync so you won't be able to sync new music. Sync multiple playlists works using other software.
