Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.
If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930289 Title: Sound Settings crashes with segmentation fault Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I am running the latest Ubuntu Precise daily build. There was an update today to the gnome-control-center and more specifically landing the new sound menu in Precise. However when I try to launch sound setting, the window disappers immediately without any warning. So I launched the gnome-control-center from the terminal, and then launched the sound settings from it. It again disappers but I get the following message in the terminal. 4 profiles supported on port Analog Output 6 profiles supported on port Internal Microphone 2 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 2 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In 6 profiles supported on port Microphone 4 profiles supported on port HDMI / DisplayPort 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 1 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In 0 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Microphone 0 profiles supported on port Analog Input / Microphone / Line In device->priv->disable_profile_swapping = 1 Segmentation fault (core dumped) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.2.2-2ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-15.24-generic-pae 3.2.5 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-15-generic-pae i686 ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Feb 10 18:34:36 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha i386 (20120116.2) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-control-center UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-02-03 (6 days ago) usr_lib_gnome-control-center: activity-log-manager-control-center 0.9.0.1-0ubuntu1 deja-dup 21.2-0ubuntu4 gnome-bluetooth 3.2.2-0ubuntu1 indicator-datetime 0.3.1-0ubuntu5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/930289/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
