In most cases the codec is wma2 which is supported thru the various plugins. In 12.04 Alpha this worked fine, just tested from live session Test Case: install the gst ffmpeg; bad & ugly plugins to cover all bases Attempt to play a mms or mmsh stream in any gstreamer based media player, Totem, Banshee, Ryhthmbox, Clementine, ect. All will hang on the buffering A bbc radio address is attached as a .m3u for convenience, mms/wma2 The .m3u can be opened directly in Totem For ryhthmbox you can r. click on > open in RB, will then be available under radio tab > unknown.
