Yes, Docking station for Dell Latitude E-5500. There is a VGA port on
the Laptop + on the docking station. Monitor was attached to the VGA
on the docking station. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there
are two VGA ports because previously (job before) I had it attached to
a monitor via DVI cable (no DVI port on the laptop itself, just on the
docking station). Not 100 % sure whether I had that issue before
because I usually don't even open the display (just leave it closed
when putting into the dock).

Best regards, Martin.

Title:
Laptop LCD not switched off when closed and external monitor is
  attached

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I have an external monitor attached to my laptop (via VGA in my
test case), the laptop display is not switched off when I close the
lid. However, main screen is switched to external monitor.

I played around with opening and closing the lid then and suddenly I
found the internal LCD display going off when I opened it and then
both displays switched off. Only way to restore was reboot.

  Display is not mirrored.
