Title: In Gnome Classic, keyboard layout indicator shows static keyboard icon, not layout Status in Ubuntu network, Bluetooth, keyboard menus: New Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Keyboard indicator doesn't show the current keyboard layout in Ubuntu 11.10 running GNOME 3 Classic (fallback) mode. It shows only a keyboard icon; when clicked, it shows layout selection menu; keyboard layout switching shortcuts are working too, but I need to guess the current layout by typing, so this indicator is almost useless now. In Unity it shows a keyboard icon with language code near it if you have more than one keyboard layout, but this is not a case for GNOME 3 Classic (fallback) mode. As you can see, similar things had happened before in Ubuntu 10.04 (bug #531173) and 11.04 (bug #826719).
