I don't think it's relevant to totem.

I am on Kubuntu 11.10 64bit, KDE 4.8.1
kubuntu-low-fat-settings installed.
All power saving and screen saver options disabled.

It's looks like something enabling PDMS, as even after disabling it by
sh file with "xset -dpms", executed on every startup, it returned back
after about 2 hours to enabled state.

  With ubuntu 11.10 totem can't disable screensaver, or may be dpms. This is 
regression for me, since previous version worked fine.
  I guess gnome screensaver api was changed.
