Hello Ehcor8, i had the same problem (crash with videos) with my laptop (AMD Radeon HD 6310) and i managed to fix it. You might intall the proprietary display driver manually, now it work well for me (fluid 1080p videos). You can find a good tutorial at : http://www.upubuntu.com/2012/03/how-to-install-ati-amd-catalyst-122.html But there are some mistakes in it!
You should write --purge instead of -purge in the terminal. ( sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev* xorg-driver-fglrx not sudo apt-get remove -purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev* xorg-driver-fglrx) Then you should enter "sudo sh ./amd-driver- installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run" instead of "sh ./amd-driver- installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run". If like me you had an error with the installation (the installer says that old drivers are still present) just enter "sudo sh ./amd-driver-installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run --force", it worked for me!
