Sayantan, this contains links to upstream bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48525, which covers both 'Group By' and autorarrangement. This bug also is an ehnancement, so there is no point in creating duplicates. A better solution would be finding someone interested in implementing this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959332 Title: Allow "Show in groups" option in Nautilus Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I would request the developers over at Canonical to add a patch to allow "Show in Groups" option for Nautilus file manager. It becomes easier to find files in groups when there are thousands of files in a folder. This happens especially in Music folder or the downloads folder. Dolphin file manager has this option . Please see the links below for the screenshots. http://userbase.kde.org/File:Dolphin_show_in_groups_effect.png http://userbase.kde.org/images.userbase/archive/2/20/20101026141308%21Dolphin_show_in_groups_effect.png Windows file explorer also has the feature. It would be great if you guys could implement something similar in 12.04. Attached is the screenshot for windows file maanager with "Show in Groups" enabled.
