error happened after a release upgrade from Oneiric to Precise,
There were several problems with unity and the panel, fixed after a not so
easy sequence of upgrades, The only way to gave the pabel back was to rename
/var/lib/dpkg/info/initramfs-tools.postinst and do again and again a series of
upgrades with --fix-missing
