Title: Please keep historical copies of log files in /var/log/lightdm Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: It would be very nice if lightdm kept at least 1 historical copy of the logs in /var/log/lightdm. When X, libdrm or mesa hit an assertion it would only go to stderr for the X process and not the X log and we relied on GDM keeping 3 previous logs for each to post mortem debug issues involving that, but lightdm overwrites the logs on the next startup so the traces have disappeared when someone can actually file the bug.
