We had quite a few architects on the call this morning, so we basically
went over the attendee list, the agenda, potential breakouts, and prep
material.

Summary....

Invitation list
- LSB architects have been invited to participate with the desktop
architects since we have so many overlapping interest areas (printing,
  mobile profile, packaging, testing, etc.)
- We just went over the various "groupings" in the invite list and
looked for areas we may have missed. Groupings include:
    - Distros (RH, Novell, Xandros, Linspire, Ubuntu, Sun Wah, Debian,
      Red Flag, Mandriva)
    - Desktop (KDE, GNOME, freedesktop.org)
    - Graphics (Compiz/Beryl, x.org, Cairo)
    - Sound/multimedia
    - Interoperability (virtualization, systems management, single
                        sign-on, etc.)
    - Text layout
    - Printing
    - Wireless
    - Power management
    - Developer network
    - Standards (LSB, ODF)
    - ISVs/Vendors
    - Security (we added this on on the call)

Agenda
- See invitation letter for agenda:
  https://www.linux-foundation.org/images/a/a3/Dam4.pdf
- Agenda is basically the same as past meetings:
  - Intros
  - State of Linux Desktop (distros, desktop orgs, mobile orgs)
  - Followup on previous DAM topics
  - New topics
  - Prioritization for breakouts
  - Breakouts
  - Ad hoc presentations
  - Summaries, messaging, upcoming events
- A couple of breakouts are being "pre-planned". These include:
  - Printing (OpenPrinting/DAPI) - Till Kamppeter
  - Sound/multimedia - Kurt Taylor
  - Mobile profile - Lefty Schlesinger

Event logistics
- DAM-4/LSB is in conjunction with the Linux Foundation Collaboration
Summit. Architects are invited to participate in the plenary day
activities on Wednesday as well as the meetings on Thursday and
  Friday.
- Architects are invited to the social event on Wednesday evening.
There are rumblings that this is going to be a casino night of
some sort. Should be a lot of fun.
- Watch this page for updates on travel and other details:
  http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/Linux_Foundation_Collaboration_Summit

Prep material
- This is the first pass at a prep template. It incorporates two
new potential areas for discussion (interoperability and standards).
  http://developer.osdl.org/dev/dtl/dam4/prep_template_dam4.odp
- We will finalize the prep material at the next planning call, so check
it over and send in your suggestions.
- To facilitate a smooth process of prioritizing focus areas, we
discussed using some online mechanisms at the event (wikis and
  survey/collaboration tools).

Please register as soon as you can so that we will have a good idea of
the domain expertise that is assembling. We can use this info to
determine other invitees and plan better for specific breakouts.

Next planning call:
   Thursday, May 31
   9AM (pacific)
Call info will be sent to desktop_architects

Thanks for asking Ed. You probably go more info than you expected. :)

Cheers,
John
