The schedule has been posted for the Desktop Developers Conference (July 17-18 in Ottawa).
http://www.desktopcon.org/2006/schedule.php The speaking slots have been filled with a wider range of topics this year and the intent is to close with breakout discussions on cross-desktop application development, cross-distro application development, and capabilities on desktop linux that just have to work. The DDC is an opportunity to take the outputs of the DAM meetings to more of the Linux desktop developers. Check out the conference and plan to attend if at all possible. http://www.desktopcon.org/2006/ Cheers, John --------------------------------------------------------------------- >From the DAM-2 discussions: Portland project - continue to gain support for Portland's goals - full destkop implementations (GNOME, KDE) - participation in testing / feedback - xdg-utils release (beta soon; 1.0 in July?...around DDC?) - xdg-utils in bleading edge distro releases - more ISVs using Portland interfaces - LSB adopotion of Portland interfaces Standards/Packaging/Installation - deliver packaging requirements to LSB working group (this was done this week) - establish ISV documentation portal Audio/Multimedia - create the sound and video equivalent of the LSB? - organize a face to face working meeting from the various audio/multimedia communities International communities - lack of communitication in Asian community (Thailand, Malaysia, India, Korea, China - Kickstart communication between local and mainstream projects - Bring local project leads to upcoming events (i.e. DDC, OLS) - Inclusion in DAM-III HW Matrix - Launch a hardware information repository project? _______________________________________________ Desktop_architects mailing list Desktop_architects@lists.osdl.org https://lists.osdl.org/mailman/listinfo/desktop_architects
