Ok,

I was having a discussion the other day with a friend over the
problems with javascript and wishing that there was a bytecode
equivalent and offhand I said outloud, "I wish that someone would
just embed j2ME with Firefox or something". My friend stopped me and
said, "Wait that's a great idea. It's sandboxed. There's no security
issue."

You can't access anything outside the sandbox. It would be PERFECT as
a replacement technology for AJAX while supplying an added level of
security (through obscurity) by only supplying bytecode. Plus
download speeds would greatly increase in comparison to downloading
the equivalent in javascript. Is it possible to do this? Are there
reasons why this isn't an option or why this might be a bad idea?

I'm sure other people have thought of this too and have a reason for
not implementing this. I was just hoping to find out why. Especially
now that SUN is Open Source and J2ME apps are everywhere thanks to
phones and other portable devices.

Any criticism of this concept is greatly appreciated. And please be
kind as I'm just throwing this out there and am not fully dedicated
to the idea but am wondering why it wouldn't work.
