I'd like to reduce download size. And I don't need XUL. I want to get html only render, without extensions like address bar or any other XUL widgets. So I want to remove as many as possible.
I don't want to remove js or XMLRequestHTTP. Supporting standards Is a power of gecko so I don't want to loose it. Now I get GRE set of dlls from firefox-3.1b2pre.en-US.win32.installer As I can see minimum GRE is about 15mb, and where xul.dll is about 10Mb. Is the actual goal to reduce runtime memory usage (a smaller DLL won't really help at all), reduce download footprint (compression makes us <5MB) or something else? Since this comes up regularly and has for years, I wrote an essay about why, in general, adding lots of options to reduce size is a bad idea: http://benjamin.smedbergs.us/blog/2005-07-29/the-testing-matrix/ --BDS _______________________________________________ dev-embedding mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-embedding _______________________________________________ dev-embedding mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-embedding
