I actually prefer the paginated scroll-snapping feature. I can remember
that a certain app lives on 'page 3' and swipe twice from the top to get
there; loose/open scrolling always required a 'zoning in' style approach to
finding the icon your are looking for.

I can't believe we want to reintroduce an 'edit mode', this previously made
organising my homescreen feel like a chore. What are the reasons for this?

Homescreens should be a fun introduction to the personally of the OS. They
should be playful and frictionless. IMO the new homescreen is a big stride
in this direction.
