Hi folks,

New home screen has landed, and tests are (still) looking green, so
hopefully it sticks. We'll be keeping a close eye on incoming bugs and
tackling any as quickly as we can. I'd like to think it's already pretty
solid, but then I'd like to think lots of things :)

There are differences to the old home screen, and unfortunately, dividers
and app-grouping are currently unimplemented. It's high priority to be
replaced over the next cycle, but will not be ready for 2.5. We decided
quite early in planning phases that pin-the-web was higher priority than
app-grouping if it came down to it, and it has come down to it.

Bug 1191745 tracks currently known issues, the largest of which is bug
1215967 - that vertical paging is enabled by default (but should be
disabled - it's not ready as it is). I'll fix this first thing Monday.

Second-most notable is probably bug 1215553 - that fullyLoaded time can be
significantly longer than verticalhome (visuallyLoaded is quicker though) -
I'm actively working on this also and intend to get things significantly
better before the week is up.

Features-wise, new home screen brings pin-the-web, improved interactive
performance, fast icon arrangement (there is no longer an edit mode) and a
persistent search bar. The code-base is also a lot more modular, with
reusable web components and extensive automated testing (both unit and
integration). It is a solid base upon which to start building new features
(first and foremost being app-grouping, or some similar replacement).

Testing and feedback is, as always, appreciated; especially feedback that
we can act upon before the impending 2.5 release.

Cheers all,

--Chris
