If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I am mostly fxos qa, so I know they OS rather well and can help with most things for testing. I am really wanting to help with making this a reality!

Hi Jamie,

yes, We have discussed this use case in the Vaani team as well. Accessibility is one of our primary intents for Vaani and speech API.

Free speech (/natural language) needs to be decoded online as practicality of having an entire dictionary decoded offline is difficult. Our current offline solution works with a handful of configurable commands so we can keep the library sizes and quality in check.

But we will continue discussing the right approach here.

As of right now no phone platform that i know of has voice to text for phone calls for hearing impaired. I talked to a person from vanni and the fxos accessibility team at the work week and they said it would be 100% doable to take the speech to text engine from vanni and use it for accessibility for speech to text in phone calls for the hearing impaired. Can we please take the engine use it to pass a phone call through a buffer to the speech to text engine and put the words on the screen for hearing impaired?

thank you,
Jamie Charlton
