Apps screen doesn't work on dark backgrounds

On dark backgrounds, non-highlighted tiles often disappear or are disrupted
that much, that they become illegible.
We might have to introduce a non-transparent background with the same width as
e.g. the Pulse or Favorites windows, but also containing our gradient, and
place the tiles on it.
The attached screen shot shows an extreme case with the Groovy console app: the
black background makes the tiles entirely disappear.
