at the 4.5 sources when you see this ?

Otherwise, it looks like it should work (although your overriding the 
encodePassword is superfluous, since it does exactly what the super class does) 
- are you able to plug a debugger and trace the login request to see where it 
actually fails ? Is it really when checking the password ? (try to put a break 
point in info.magnolia.jaas.sp.jcr.JCRAuthenticationModule#matchPassword for 
example)
