Shortcuts for link selections

It would be useful if in addition to the existing link selection options
(basically, browse server or enter manually) there would be a list of existing
links to choose from. This list could contain all existing links or a subset
like the last 10 or 10 most used, whatever (or even user managed, but I prefer
to make this automatic). Case in point are mostly external links, or shortcuts
to often used internal links (like the contact page)
This is part of functionality we could implement easily if we had the link
information parsed and managed as an entity of its own.
