Some fixes were done for 3.6, but will be an ongoing process for next versions;
however, we'd like to only fix things that are actually broken, since these
changes tend to introduce a lot of side effects. Of course we'll take care of
this with 4.0, since we're targetting a complete ui overhaul then.
