Hi,

Yes the IP my script detected worked with the production server.

I used the lawrenceg page with the ip.cgi script and got the same results.
My verify_install wouldn't display an IP for my server?

The lawrenceg script returned the IP of my dial-up (which is what you would
expect), which is why I wrote the ip.cgi, to have the request originate from
my server! The script that ip.cgi uses on my server is my version of what I
figured the lawrenceg script is like (if it is a perl script). I'm sure you
can do the same with javascript on an html page.

On the matter of PREMATURE END...

There doesn't seem to be any significant difference between my script and
the original (or my conf file and the orig. both v2.21). I cannot produce
the problem again with a fresh install either? so I am probably mistaken! I
do not want to cast aspersions on the authors of these beautiful scripts
either so I will be more careful to backup my words...

I REMEMBER, ahhhh. I upgraded and mixed up my confs. Check to make sure your
conf is for your version.
I managed to produced this error with the old .conf file and new register
cgi!!!!

that was MY problem!!! yikes
anyways, it still looks like a variable permission problem to me. I was
seeing it last night with one of my scripts. You'll probably have to search
the script for variable's that aren't in the qw() init at the top of the
script?

    Hi regarding your message below.

    1. Are you able to access the live environment with the IP your script
detected?
    2. Is the IP the same as detected by the lawrencegoetz script?

I am also on a virtual server with fixed ip address. To detect my ip
address I purposely tried to acces a page on my site that does not exist. I
then checked my error log file for the ip address, which matched the ip
detected by the lawrence script. Only problem is access is denied into the
live environment - it does not like the ip.

I then noticed when I ran the verify script, it detects my server ip
address ... which seems odd.

So I have now submitted my server ip address to support and waitng
....and waiting .....

Hi all, just implemented my scripts at
http://domains.brain-web-dev.com

The problem with the script mentioned above (premature...
compilation aborted) when I had it was caused by a variable in the main
script being requested that wasn't initialized via the package!

And ALSO I wrote a crummy little script to get my server's IP
instead of browsing from my server to the lawrencegoetz script (for those on
a Virtual Server!)

        Its available at http://brain-web-dev.com/ftp/pub/ip.txt
simple to install and run... responds to your browser

I have a more developed script that'll give you all the details you
need about your server (in a browser) to install and configure the scripts
right for your environment. Contact me for this one.
