I recently contacted them about the same thing they were doing with
Verisign Certificates that were not renewed through Verisign... They
don't let up.
The excuse I received was:
"Dear VeriSign Customer, Thank you for your response. Please note that
the renewal notices are automated. You may continue to receive them
until the Digital ID is expired. Please disregard any further renewal
notices. We do apologize for the inconvenience."
The certificate in question HAD expired, and verisign, a.k.a. network
slowlutions has been bugging our customers with these not so friendly
notices, telling them that their site is "no longer secure":
"Our records indicate that the Server ID issued to WWW.domainname.COM
expired as of 12-OCT-00.
This means that any data being transferred between your site visitors
and your server is being transmitted in an unencrypted mode."
Obviously, this DOESN'T stop when the certificate expires, and notifying
them has NO effect, since it's "automated"
Presumably, that means they can't do anything about it.
