Because OpenSRS's WHOIS server decides to look at the root
(VeriSign/Internic) WHOIS before it searches it's own domain. The root
whois server is AWOL, and has been on and off for the last week.

This is, AFAIK, to cope with another bug, their system doesn't accurately
track domains that are moved away from OpenSRS, instead it checks against
the root whois each time you do a WHOIS, and verifies that OpenSRS still
controls it before it returns local information.

It's been a reported, IIRC, over a year ago. It was indicated that a fix
has been completed, and should be implemented on Monday(ish)
