hello? for the past year all mail i sent to this
mailing list has failed... i hope this one succeeds!!!
i guess, probably because i'm using korean
windows which probably set's my encoding type korean for most stuff
has opensrs updated their mailing list software yet???
anyways searching for domains through openSRS is @#$@#$@# way to
slow.
for some reason Domaindirect.com seems to search REAL fast. hmmmm.... maybe
i should just query their site.
anyways i used to use a modified lookup routine to search for tv, com, net,
org, uk domains all at the same time.
the problem is openSRS is waaaaaaaaaaay to slow. i timed simply using my
watch how long OpenSRS lookups takes... it takes neary 6~9 seconds on
average.
now... i created a newer lookup program... all based on whois
lookup(except tv and realname.com domains)
for ideas... you can check it out at:(all in korean though, shouldn't be
that hard how to figure out how to use it though)
and bulk searches http://www.gagadomain.com/indexphp.php?link=search/bulksearch2.html
i would like to start a "thread" on domain lookup methods as this
would be helpful to many resellers
problems i thought of on whois lookups
1.) someone said that register.com was blocking lookups from opensrs... i
haven't checked... anyone know more about this? -> this would be very
bad
2.) i know for sure networksolutions blocks your ip if you query too much,
i've seen another domain company blocked before -> this would be very bad if
it happened
3.) often fails.... lotta of downs... -> don't know how to get around
this but i do set a timeout when looking up
4.) unreliable for domains registered within 24 hours -> ok for opensrs
domains if you use opensrs's whois
5.) can't search tv domains
6.) must redo through openSRS(or whereever) a
"real" lookup when actually registering
any comments? how are others lookuping up
domains?
how 'bout your experience with whois
querying?
