There was much talk about this when renewals first came out
(early this year). *MANY* people were adamant that you
should not be able to renew domains that are hosted at
another RSP. OSRS added the check to ensure that you can
only renew a domain that is tied to your reseller account
(as indicated by the error message).

RSP to RSP transfers are handled just like Registrar to
Registrar transfers; the server side (at OSRS) takes care
of the details. Have your friend submit a transfer request
if he wants to renew for a year and move to you as his
reseller all in one fell swoop...

Subject: RSP to RSP transfer error...

Hi,

Something's not right here... I've never yet had to deal with RSP to RSP
transfers, but what happened was. A user with an opensrs domain (registered
somewhere else), went to my renewal cgi and tried to renew. Lo and behold,
he got the following messsage: "Fail! (You can't renew this domain through
currently used RSP, because
domain is registered with another RSP. Please contact your RSP to renew the
domain)
New Expiration Date: 2001-10-25 17:33:24"

Hmmm???

Alex
