Given that Perl was designed to fit well with humans and to act like a
normal human language on the cultural level as well, it's not too
surprising that it has such "exceptions".  Some people hate English too,
but English still seems pretty popular for getting the job done.  To keep
the serious programmers happy, there's always use strict and -w.  The
equivalent for English is to carry around your grammer school teacher, but
that can cause serious portability problems.  :)

And remember ... a correct Perl program is one that gets the job done
before you get fired.  Semicolons schmemycolons.
