I've actually received this error using the online live registration system. This seemed to have been caused by my not having included name servers in my registration (I believe it was for a .INFO reg). When I included name servers this error went away and I then just logged into the manage interface and deleted the name servers ...

First time I recvd this was when I sent a command to add a
non-existent nameserver to a domain and after that whatever I do with
the domain (related to nameservers) I get this error. Other API calls
like changing information is success.
I tried to check the domain details from RWI but the panel
cannot extract information about the domain. It says: "Error" - Could
not get domain status
Has anyone experienced this?
