Hi Amit,

Since the introduction of the IDN "testbed" in November 2000, we've
provided RACE conversion scripts into the client
code(opensrs-client-2.xx/cgi/RACE.cgi) which you can use in any
programmatic way you chose. We do not however provide a server side API
call that will do the conversion for you. I caution you from spending
too much time on any RACE related development since Verisign is
converting all IDN names to the punycode standard to meet IDN RFC's
which were published earlier this year, all IDN registrars are expected
to have completed their migration by Feb 2004 and thus moving away from
RACE altogether.

We will be taking part in this migration later this year and I'll be
letting you all know what impact this has on those resellers with an
interest in IDN names.

For an interesting read on these new RFC's and how a major browser now
supports them you may find the following article quite interesting
(http://devedge.netscape.com/viewsource/2003/idn/). I wonder how long
before MS-IE takes (if ever) to support these standards?

Cheers,

James

Hi,

What is the suggested way of converting multi-lingual (or
non-english) domains to race-encoded strings?

Does TuCows provide and api for the same or we are expected to
do the conversion ourselves or are we expected to use
http://www.opensrs.org/cgi-bin/RACE/index.cgi

Please feel free to fwd me to any documentation which might
answer this.

Regards,
Amit.
