As a developer I see that setting limits at first is a good idea...

For what it's worth --

I to feel that programming limits is generally a bad thing to do. Transitioning a database from an obsolete format to an updated format can be a real nightmare.

That said DNS technology for the average user is pretty straight forward and mature these days. Saving programming complexity by limiting a user to 8 (?) A records (ie a ULONG,DIM(8) database field) is not something that is likely to come back and bite you. In fact most users probably don't even know they can have more than 2 entries! ;)
