I just added the link for context because I was cited as the source in chat, 
but my example derived from that question. I nowhere suggested the engine was 
responsible for solving the many issues raised in that question. The bug Max 
reported doesn't have anything to do with macro packages or trickery and 
doesn't depend on any particular font.
