Because under 3.3 ndiswrapper doesn't work with the 650+, and on top of that, there is a perfectly good OSS driver that can do the job. Ndiswrapper is a crutch at best to allow you to get things going until someone writes a better driver.Why not just use ndiswrapper to drive your card?
Also with Ndiswrapper and the 650+, many of the wireless tools do not work correctly.
And I know, the 650+ is a crappy card, but I bought it back when I was using windows, it is what I have and will do for now.
To the original poster, I suspect that the acx_100 modules conflicted with something, however, I did take Josh's kernel from dotmepis.org and compile the acx_100 back into it and got the 650+ working again.
Unless you are comfortable patching and recompiling your kernel, then I would recommend you use Mepis 2004.06 if you want to use your 650+
Or your other choice is to go to Ubuntu, it supports the 650+ quite nicely.
