Such sites still exist, and they still aren't cool.

Right, just nowadays Firefox is usually tested browser that they let in. Once you browser without the "Firefox" token in a UA string (e.g. try using SeaMonkey with the "pretend to be Firefox" pref turned off), you see that those practices are still around.
